Spend an afternoon with a Mohonk Preserve educator learning about the small but important aquatic creatures known as macroinvertebrates, that live below the stream surface. We'll explore the vital roles they play in the stream ecosystem, and understand how these bioindicators help reveal the health of our waterways. Participants will use nets, magnifying glasses and other tools and resources to safely collect, observe, and identify these creatures, and share with the group their findings.
Space is limited and registration is required. Children must always be accompanied by a registered adult. Closed-toed, waterproof footwear is strongly encouraged. Please register by 2 pm on Monday, April 20.
